Bank Holidays 2023, Coronation holiday in UK: Date, full list of bank holidays in May

There will be bank holidays in the UK in the month of May. The additional holiday is on the occasion of King Charles III's coronation. Last November, the UK government had announced that there will be holiday across the UK to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III on May 8 which is on Monday.

The coronation of King Charles III and his wife Camilla as queen on Saturday, May 6, is the centrepiece of a weekend of events to mark the occasion. Monday May 8 has been declared a public holiday. The royal family has called on Britons to do voluntary work in their communities.

Apart from this there will be extra holiday on May 1 on Monday and May 29, Monday. May 1 bank holiday is due to May Day which is held on the first Monday of May every year in the UK. May 29 additional holiday is due to spring bank holiday.
