According to IMD, Bengaluru is likely to witness generally cloudy sky with light rain today
After Bengaluru shivered and recorded its coldest day on Sunday, November 30, the city is expected to witness patchy rain today with temperatures ranging between 26°C and 19°C. The IMD has warned of generally cloudy sky with light rain for Bengaluru today. Occasional light rain may continue, accompanied by high humidity of around 78% and winds at 18 km/h, according to a report in Asia Net. Conditions in Bengaluru are expected to gradually improve, with clearer skies and slightly warmer afternoons.

Bengaluru weather update

According to IMD, Bengaluru is likely to witness generally cloudy sky with light rain today. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover between 22 degree Celsius and 18 degrees Celsius. On Sunday, Bengaluru shivered through an unusually chilly day with on-and-off drizzles.

The maximum temperature dipped to 20.2°C, making it the coldest day of the year so far. The persistent cloud cover kept conditions damp and breezy, adding to the winter-like feel across the city. Humidity touched 98% and light drizzles—0.2 mm in the city and 1.2 mm near the airport—kept the skies muted and the chill intact all day.

An IMD scientist told TOI that the city's current cold-wave-like conditions are closely tied to the persistent cloud cover. "This is because of the cloudiness, which is eventually due to the passing of Ditwah (cyclone)," the scientist said, adding that the lack of sunlight was keeping temperatures low. "Once we start getting insolation (incoming solar radiation), the temperature is likely to improve," she explained.

Light to moderate rain for next 36 hours in Bengaluru

Although the IMD bulletin forecasts generally cloudy skies with light to moderate rain in Bengaluru for the next 12 to 36 hours, officials suggested that a break in the weather may not be far off. "In the next 24 to 36 hours, there is going to be respite. The major portion of the system has already passed and once this system reaches more towards north we can see some sun. We may see only very slight rain for next few hours—just like how it was on Sunday," the scientist told TOI.

Bengaluru is expected to warm up gradually once the cloud cover lifts in December. For now, though, Bengaluru continues to ease into winter with cool temperatures and a soft, misty ambience.
