Bengaluru rain
Residents of Bengaluru once again faced the familiar problem of urban flooding after heavy rains lashed the city. Water entered homes in several areas, and roads turned impassable. People took to social media to express their frustration, renewing criticism of the city’s drainage and civic infrastructure.

Heavy rains in Bengaluru led to waterlogging, traffic jams, and power outages across multiple parts of the city. Several neighbourhoods saw knee-deep water, vehicles stuck in flooded streets, and residents complaining about poor infrastructure. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for the city and surrounding districts, forecasting more rain in the coming days.

Sai Layout among worst-hit areas

Sai Layout in Horamavu was one of the worst-affected areas, with streets submerged under 4-5 feet of water. The flooding caused major inconvenience to residents, and videos circulating online showed people wading through the water. In NC Colony on Tannery Road, water entered homes following the downpour.

Commuters push stranded cars in flooded roads

Waterlogging led to massive traffic disruptions across the city. In areas like Panathur S Cross, Domlur flyover’s upper ramp, and Koramangala, several vehicles broke down in the flooded streets. Commuters were seen pushing their vehicles through knee-deep water as traffic slowed to a crawl.

Citizens criticise government in social media posts

Social media platforms were filled with images and videos of flooded streets. Several users criticised the government for failing to address the recurring issue of waterlogging.

“Just one normal rain and our Bengaluru turns into a swimming pool but our Karnataka government is more interested in tunnel roads, dismantling BBMP, and Tumkur Metro extensions instead of fixing these issues,” said one user.

“Bengaluru's Manyata Tech Park turns into a lake after rain, exposing the Congress government's hollow promises on infrastructure. Is this the 'Brand Bengaluru' that Karnataka Congress bragged about?” said another.
In a reference to earlier misinformation on Pakistani social media, one user wrote, “Bengaluru Port is operational now.”

Yellow alert issued across Karnataka

The IMD has issued a yellow alert across Karnataka till Thursday. “As per the current pattern of the cyclonic circulation, Karnataka, especially the coastal parts, will get heavy rainfall. Bengaluru is also expected to receive heavy rainfall for the next two days,” said IMD Bengaluru centre Director N Puviarasu.

The forecast includes widespread rain and thunderstorms across districts such as Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Kolar, Chikkaballapura, Tumakuru, Mandya, Mysuru, Hassan, Kodagu, Belagavi, Bidar, Raichur, Yadgir, Davanagere, and Chitradurga.
