On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered prayers at the Badrinath temple.
Prime Minister was joined at the shrine by Uttarakhand Governor Lt Gen (Retd) Gurmeet Singh and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.
He then went to Adi Guru Shankaracharya's Samadhi Sthal as well as placed the foundation stone for the Kedarnath ropeway project.
Some of the most important Hindu sites include Kedarnath and Badrinath. Hemkund Sahib, a famed Sikh pilgrimage site, is another draw to the region. The connectivity projects are designed to make religious sites more accessible and to upgrade the foundational infrastructure.
