Emraan Hashmi tests positive for swine flu, gives health update amid 'Awarapan 2' success
Emraan Hashmi has tested positive for swine flu (H1N1), with the actor currently recovering after feeling unwell for the past few days.

The health update comes at a time when Hashmi has been in the news for the success of his latest release, 'Awarapan 2'.

The actor shared an update on Instagram to inform fans that he was "really unwell" and had to postpone an upcoming meet-up in Bengaluru.

Sharing the update on his Instagram Story, Hashmi apologised to fans and assured them that the event would take place on a new date. He wrote, Hey Bangalore, I'm really unwell and unfortunately won't be able to make it to the Bangalore show. But picture khatam nahi hua, bas postpone hua hai! I'll see you all at Sunburn Union on 12th September, Saturday. Your tickets will remain valid for the new date. Can't wait to see you guys! @sunburnunionbengaluru @unynx.blr."

Common symptoms of H1N1

H1N1, also known as swine flu, can cause symptoms similar to those of seasonal influenza. Symptoms may range from mild to severe and can include:

  • Fever or chills
  • Sweating
  • Cough
  • Sore throat
  • Runny or stuffy nose
  • Loss of appetite
  • Weight loss
  • Body aches or muscle pain
  • Headache
  • Fatigue or weakness
  • Shortness of breath in some cases
Gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea are also reported, particularly among children.

Vaccination and precautions

Vaccination is one of the key measures to reduce the risk of severe influenza. While an annual flu vaccine may not completely prevent infection, it can lower the risk of serious illness, complications and hospitalisation.

Other precautions can also help reduce the spread of H1N1. These include washing hands regularly, covering the mouth and nose while coughing or sneezing, avoiding close contact with others when unwell and staying home when sick.

The sharp rise in Delhi's H1N1 cases compared with the same period last year underlines the need for greater caution around influenza. While many people recover without major complications, those at higher risk should monitor their symptoms closely and seek medical attention when necessary.
