Avatar 2 Box office Collection: James Cameron's Avatar sequel film overtakes Titanic as third-highest grossing

Another James Cameron blockbuster epic, "Avatar: The Way of Water," has surpassed "Titanic" to become the third highest-grossing film in history.

The sci-fi sequel has earned $2.2433 billion worldwide, surpassing "Titanic" ($2.2428 billion) at the box office. "The Way of Water" now ranks third all-time behind "Avatar" ($2.92 billion) and "Avengers: Endgame" ($2.7 billion).

Cameron, the only filmmaker with three films grossing $2 billion or more, directed the first, third, and fourth most successful releases in history.


“Avatar: The Way of Water” was released in six Indian languages: English, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, Tamil, and Kannada. The film became the highest-grossing Hollywood film of all time in India after its release on December 16, 2022.

Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington, Stephen Lang, Kate Winslet, and Sigourney Weaver star in Avatar: The Way of Water. The film is a sequel to the science-fiction film Avatar.

Avatar 2 has grossed $240.60 million in China alone, making it the 10th highest-grossing Hollywood film in the country. It knocked Avengers: Age of Ultron from the top ten.

"Avatar: The Way of Water," one of the most expensive films ever made, cost Disney and 20th Century Fox approximately $460 million to produce and promote. The long-awaited sequel finally hit theatres in December and has remained in the top five on box office charts for ten weeks. The third instalment will be released in December 2024, with plans for fourth and fifth instalments in the following years.
