But, despite testing positive, why will Matthew Wade be permitted to play?
Australian star wicketkeeper-batsman Matthew Wade has been tested positive for Covid-19, but will still play the next match against England due to absence of recognized wicketkeeper alternative in the team. Apart from Wade, Josh Inglis was the squad's second recognized wicketkeeper-batsman, but he sustained a weird hand injury while playing just days before the start of the world cup tournament.

As a result, Inglis was ruled out of the event, and Australia picked Cameron Green as his substitute. The reigning champions took a risk by including Green in the roster, as the all-rounder is not a recognized wicketkeeper by trade. However, he was taken because of his excellent form and all-around abilities. But then disaster struck the Aussies, when Adam Zampa tested positive for Covid-19, making Wade the virus's second fatality in the Australian squad.

But, despite testing positive, why will Matthew Wade be permitted to play?

According to the most recent ICC regulations, participants will not be barred from playing in the competition, and no necessary quarantine time is required.

If a player tests positive, they will be instructed to limit their interaction with their teammates and travel to the venue separately.

The 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup is the tournament's ninth edition. Originally scheduled to take place in 2020, the International Cricket Council (ICC) declared in July 2020 that the event has been postponed owing to the COVID-19 epidemic.
