Lucas Helmke wanted to show his son that anything is possible, so he decided to try and break a Guinness World Record. He worked hard for three years, training constantly at his old gym in Brisbane's Iron Underground.
Lucas's success was due to his careful planning and preparation. He knew that the exercise he needed to do was tough, so he broke it down into 30-second sections. His goal was to complete 26 push-ups in each section, but he managed to do even better, averaging 26.7 push-ups per 30 seconds.
After winning the title for most push-ups in an hour, Lucas told Guinness World Records, "This will be the first record I wish to set of several other push-up records. Then onto other physical records."
