Abaan Ahmed accident: What happened

The crash took place on August 6 in the Poonch police station area, around 70 km before Jhansi. Abaan and his companions were travelling from Prayagraj to Jhansi to meet his elder brother, Ali Ahmed, who is lodged in Jhansi jail.

According to the account accompanying the video, the location was independently matched with the accident site. Houses and other landmarks visible in the footage reportedly corresponded with the area. A local reporter who reached the site shortly after the crash also indicated that the location and circumstances shown in the video matched the accident scene.

Initial reports had suggested that the driver lost control while trying to avoid an animal that had suddenly appeared on the highway.

However, the newly surfaced footage appears to show the Creta overtaking a pickup truck immediately before moving towards the divider. The exact sequence of events that led to the collision is expected to be established through the police investigation.

The vehicle was reportedly travelling at around 120 kmph when it hit the divider on the side where Abaan was seated.

Two killed, three injured

The collision severely damaged the front of the Creta and injured all five occupants.

Abaan and Sonu died in the accident, while Umar Ahmed, Mohammad Zaid and Aslam were injured and taken to a nearby health facility.

Witness Deepak Yadav, who was among the first people to reach the site, said he heard the crash and found the occupants trapped inside the badly damaged vehicle.

When one of the doors could not be opened, Yadav reportedly brought an iron rod from a nearby house and used it to open the door and rescue the occupants.

Abaan suffered severe internal injuries

According to the witness's account, Abaan remained conscious briefly after being pulled from the wreckage and identified himself before losing consciousness.

The post-mortem examination reportedly found extensive internal trauma. Abaan suffered ruptures to the liver, lungs and spleen, along with multiple fractured ribs. Doctors attributed his death to massive internal bleeding caused by the high-impact collision.

Sonu, who was seated behind Abaan, reportedly suffered a fatal head injury and skull fracture.

Police examine dashcam footage

The emergence of the dashcam video could provide investigators with important visual evidence of the moments immediately before the crash.

Police are examining the footage alongside eyewitness accounts, forensic findings and other evidence to determine the precise circumstances and cause of the accident.
