Ather launches Konarc electric scooter from Rs 99,999: Check features and specifications

Ather has launched the Konarc electric scooter in India, introducing a new model based on the company’s EL platform. Priced from Rs 99,999 (ex-showroom), the electric scooter is offered in six variants and three battery options, with claimed IDC ranges extending from 100km to 161km for the currently detailed versions.

The Konarc uses a shared architecture under Ather’s EL platform, with common elements including the main frame, wiring and powertrain, while components such as the battery, suspension and wheels vary across applications. Ather has detailed four claimed range figures for the scooter, including 100km, 125km, 161km and 200km, although specifications for the S 200km and Z range are yet to be announced.

Ather Konarc variants and battery options

The Konarc is available across two lineups, S and Z, with six variants in total. Ather has currently detailed three battery configurations: 2.1kWh, 2.7kWh and 3.5kWh.


These battery packs offer claimed IDC ranges of 100km, 125km and 161km respectively. Pricing, range figures and delivery timelines for some variants are available, while complete details of the entire range are yet to be announced.

Family-focused design with metal body

The Konarc follows a conventional family-scooter layout, combining a boxier profile with an emphasis on practicality. Its overall shape is reminiscent of the Ather Rizta, although the new model gets distinct styling elements.

The LED headlamp sits on the handlebar cowl, while a large LED DRL is positioned on the apron. Sharp creases on the side panels add definition to the design.

A single-piece seat is paired with a substantial adjustable pillion backrest, while the floorboard offers additional room for carrying everyday belongings.

The scooter is available in six colour options. The S 100km can be had in Quartz White with Blue and Majestic Grey with Black. The S 125 and S 161 add Celestial Gold with Blue and Lumen Copper with Black to the available combinations.

The Konarc also gets a metal body and a centre stand, making it the first Ather scooter to feature both.

Battery charging and combined charger setup

Charging times vary according to the battery configuration and variant. The S 100 takes four hours for a 0-80% charge using a 450W onboard charger. The S 125 takes 4 hours 30 minutes, while the S 161 requires 5 hours 40 minutes.

Ather has also introduced a combined charging setup, allowing owners to connect another charger with the same or higher capacity to increase the scooter’s charging rate.

For instance, pairing two 450W chargers produces a combined 900W charging capacity. With the additional charger, the S 100’s 0-80% charging time falls to two hours, while the S 125 takes 2 hours 25 minutes and the S 161 takes 3 hours 10 minutes.

The additional charger is offered as an add-on for the S 100 and S 125, while it comes as standard with the S 161.

The combined system can add up to 13km of range in 10 minutes on the S 100, while the S 125 and S 161 can gain up to 15km in the same duration.

Suspension, wheels and braking hardware

The Konarc is built around a tubular steel frame forming the base of Ather’s EL platform. Suspension duties are handled by a Showa telescopic fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear.

The scooter gets 90mm of front suspension travel and 100mm at the rear. It runs on 14-inch front and 12-inch rear alloy wheels, fitted with 90/90-14 front and 100/90-12 rear tyres.

The S 100 uses drum brakes at both ends. The S 125 and S 161 receive a 220mm front disc paired with a 130mm rear drum.

The S 125 weighs 126.5kg at the kerb, while the S 161 has a kerb weight of 129kg.

The scooter also gets Ather’s Advanced Electrical Braking System (AEBS), which combines regenerative braking with conventional braking. Its electric motor assists deceleration while recovering energy during braking.

Features include navigation, alerts and multiple ride modes

The S 100 is equipped with a 4.2-inch LCD instrument console, while the S 125 and S 161 receive a larger 7-inch LCD display.

The Konarc also comes with Ather’s latest software package, including capabilities introduced through AtherStack 7.0. All three currently detailed variants offer Smart Eco, Eco and Power riding modes.

The feature list includes voice control, full-fledged navigation, pothole alerts, tow alerts and crash alerts. Navigation can operate without keeping a smartphone connected to the scooter.

Other equipment includes reverse mode, the new AirWalk mode, keyless ignition on the Z range, keyless boot release and hill-hold assist.

The S 125 and S 161 also receive Ather’s Ride Assist package, which includes AirWalk, AutoHold, FallSafe and Bluetooth call and music alerts.

These two variants come with three years of complimentary Ather Connect, offering functions including theft and tow alerts, ride stories, Find My Scooter, remote charging status, Bluetooth and SIM connectivity, access through the Ather app and OTA updates. AtherStack Pro is available across the three versions.

Storage, connectivity and warranty

For everyday usability, the Konarc features a small storage compartment mounted on the apron and a spacious floorboard. The underseat boot provides 31 litres of storage across the range.

A mobile holder with an 18W USB-C charging port is also included.

Ather offers a three-year or 30,000km vehicle warranty along with a standard battery warranty. Customers can opt for an extended five-year or 60,000km battery warranty, while the extended battery coverage can go up to 10 years or 1,00,000km.
