Asit Kumarr Modi unveils first look of new 2D family animated series based on Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah

Neela Mediatech, the gaming and animation arm of Neela Film Productions, has unveiled the first look of a new 2D family animated series based on the popular television franchise Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah.

The first glimpse of the upcoming series was presented at an industry event in Mumbai, where attendees were also shown a special sneak-peek video. The new production will bring the show's familiar characters and setting of Gokuldham Society into a 2D animated format. According to the company, the series will feature an anime-inspired visual style while retaining the comedy and underlying social messaging associated with the original show.

The franchise already has an animated presence through a 3D series aimed at pre-teen viewers, which is available on YouTube. The company has also developed Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah Rhymes, a children's content property available in 12 Indian languages.


Neela Mediatech said it plans to take the franchise to international audiences through multiple formats and platforms, with further collaborations and digital offerings in development.

Asit Kumarr Modi, creator and producer of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah and founder of Neela Mediatech, highlighted the show's 18-year run and its expansion beyond television.

The show has completed more than 4,800 episodes and, according to the company, is the world's longest-running comedy series.

The company has not disclosed the release date or distribution platform for the upcoming 2D animated series.
