Ashish Nehra, Kohinoor memes flood Twitter after Rishi Sunak becomes new UK prime minister

A meme fest started on Twitter after some users started posting former Indian cricketer Ashish Nehra's picture with congratulatory messages for Sunak on social media as they thought Sunak resembled Nehra.

Rishi Sunak, who is of Indian descent, is set to become the next Prime Minister of United Kingdom. Sunak has created History by becoming the youngest and the first Asian origin to become the Prime Minister of the UK. When it was declared that he became PM, people considered it an auspicious moment as the date had coincided with Diwali celebrations in India and elsewhere.

People flocked to social media to beam congratulatory messages to Sunak.

However, it soon started a meme fest on Twitter after some Twitter users started posting former Indian cricketer Ashish Nehra's picture with congratulatory messages for Sunak on social media as they thought Sunak resembled Nehra.

Kohinoor jokes also flooded Twitter after Sunak was declared as the new UK PM. "I hope it’s not too late for Rishi Sunak to try Plan B to bring back Kohinoor for us," one wrote.

Another said: "Good morning to people who think Rishi Sunak will return Kohinoor to India."
