The incident, shared by his flatmate on Reddit, has sparked both amusement and sympathy from many users online. Currently, the price of onions in Delhi NCR has surged to Rs 70-Rs 80 per kilogram, a sharp rise from the previous rate of Rs 50 or less. This increase in prices has affected consumers, making onions an expensive kitchen staple for many.

Desperate Request for Extra Onions

In a bid to save on costs, the Delhi man made a direct appeal to the restaurant while placing his Swiggy order. His printed request read: “Bhaiyya please send round cit onions bhaiyya please. Onions bhot costly hai, I can’t buy, please send onions bhaiyya thoda,” followed by two sad-face emojis. In his plea, he explained the price of onions had made them unaffordable, prompting his request for extra onions with the order.

The flatmate, who shared the receipt on Reddit, captioned the post: “My flatmate placed the order and I found this on the bill.” The restaurant responded by sending extra onions along with the food.

In early November, a market seller in Delhi explained that the price of onions had risen significantly, from ₹60 to ₹70 per kilogram, influenced by the rates at the wholesale market or mandi.
