As New York announces Diwali a public school holiday starting 2023, Priyanka Chopra gets emotional

When New York City Mayor Eric Adams and State Assemblywoman Jenifer Rajkumar revealed at a press conference that Diwali will be a public school holiday from 2023, Priyanka Chopra, who spent her teenage years in Queens, broke down in tears.
The actress, who shared the information on her social media accounts, wrote that after spending so many years in Queens as a teenager, she is beaming with happiness. She used the hashtag - #representationmatters.
Rajkumar remarked in the video that today, she can declare with pride that our time has come. It is time to acknowledge the more than 200,000 members of the Jain, Hindu, Buddhist, and Sikh faiths who celebrate Diwali, also known as the Festival of Lights, in New York.
We will encourage them to research the history of Diwali. We will have them begin by discussing what it means to observe the Festival of Lights and how to ignite a spark within oneself, explained Adams.
Priyanka went to the US to pursue her education at the age of 13. She said she lived with her aunts when she appeared on The Carlos Watson Show. She was a Cedar Rapids, Iowa, resident. She also spent some time in Indianapolis and a good year in Queens. Then, before returning to India, she also spent time in Newton, Massachusetts.
Priyanka will appear on international projects which includes "It's All Coming Back To Me"among others.
She is also anticipated to make a comeback in Bollywood with the Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif-starrer "Jee Le Zaraa," directed by Farhan Akhtar.
