Army jawan arrested for helping 2 Bangladeshi nationals enter India illegally through Bengal border

Gautam Adhikari, an Army jawan has been arrested after he helped two Bangladeshi nationals to enter India. He helped the two people to enter India illegally through the international border at Swarupnagar in North 24 Parganas.

The two Bangladeshis who were also arrested later identified as Joy and Baishakhi Barui.

The Army jawan comes from Hoogly’s Magra. But Guatam is currently posted in Jodhpur.


The police said that the two Bangaldeshi’s Joy and Baishakhi Barui were trying to cross the fence on Monday of the Bitahri-Hakimpir border.

They were then spotted by BSF personnel and then later detained.

Police are questioning the two Bangladeshi nationals after detaining them. Investigators are questioning the purpose of their entry into India and the role of the jawan in the entire situation.

Currently all of the three people including two Bangladeshi and the jawan has been sent for 14 days in Judicial custody.
