Apple’s weather app down for many users due to ‘data provider outage’; Here’s what we know

Apple’s weather app went down for several users across the globe including the ones in UK and Croatia. Although the precipitation, temperature, and air quality maps were functional, they took a considerable amount of time to load. Apple's System Status dashboard indicates that the application has been experiencing an "ongoing" problem since 5 am PT on Tuesday.

According to the notice, a “data provider outage” is causing the unavailability of next-hour precipitation information for some users. Other Apple services and applications seem to be functioning normally.

While replying to some of the users flagging the issue with the weather app on social media, the Apple Support’sofficial account replied to them saying, “There is current issue with the Weather app that we are aware of, and we’re working to resolve.”






However, it appeared that a significant number of users worldwide are experiencing problems with the weather app, which is affecting Weather apps on various Apple platforms such as iOS, iPadOS, watchOS, and macOS.

When the app functions correctly, it offers detailed predictions for precipitation, hourly forecasts for the upcoming 10 days, and high-quality weather maps.

Only a week after Dark Sky's brief reappearance, Apple's Weather application started experiencing problems. In 2020, Apple purchased Dark Sky, integrated some of its features into the Weather app, and discontinued the Dark Sky application. It briefly returned last week before being removed once again.
