Meanwhile, as has become customary in recent years, Samsung's mobile division in the US used the microblogging platform X (previously Twitter) to ridicule Apple's event. Samsung Mobile US posted two tweets that playfully teased the tech giant from Cupertino.
In the first tweet, Samsung humorously referenced Apple's famous catchphrase: "One more thing." The tweet read, "This one REALLY could have used 'one more thing,'" poking fun at Apple's tradition of unveiling unexpected products during their presentations.
For those who might not be familiar, the phrase "One more thing" was originally coined by Apple's co-founder, Steve Jobs. It became synonymous with Apple's product launches, as Jobs would often conclude a presentation, only to return with a surprise announcement. The first notable use of this catchphrase occurred in 1999 when Jobs introduced the Apple AirPort during a keynote at the Macworld Expo in San Francisco. Another iconic moment came in 2010 when Steve Jobs dramatically unveiled the original MacBook Air by pulling it out of an envelope.
Since Steve Jobs' passing, Apple has sparingly used these words. Tim Cook, Apple's CEO, stressed their significance during the iPhone X unveiling in 2017, saying, "We have great respect for these words, and we don't use them lightly." Cook recently resurrected the phrase to introduce Apple's first-ever mixed reality headset, the Apple Vision Pro, which will cost $3,499 and be available next year.
As the tech world continues to evolve, it's evident that friendly banter between industry giants remains a part of the landscape, providing entertainment and excitement for tech enthusiasts worldwide.
