Apple to launch iPhone 15 with USB type C ports, but with restrictions. Read here

Apple is set to launch a new iPhone featuring USB type C ports, but with certain restrictions on the functionality of the cables.

Apple is introducing iPhones with USB type C ports due to a law from the European Union which says that the company must offer the same charging standards on all devices. This could make it more convenient for customers to charge their devices. However, according to ShrimpApplePro, they may restrict charging and functionality to MFI cables.

Apple tests accessories and grants them MFi certification if they meet their security and performance standards. Non-MFi certified cables and chargers may have restrictions on data transfer and charging. Therefore, users may not be able to get the full benefits from them.

Apple is set to make its biggest change yet by introducing USB type C ports on its upcoming iPhone 15 series. According to the cited source, Foxconn has started mass production of accessories like EarPods and cables. This is a huge step away from the Lightning port used on previous iPhones. Further details remain unknown, but Apple's switch to USB C is sure to make waves.

The upcoming standard iPhone 15 model is expected to have Apple’s Dynamic Island feature as a major upgrade since the iPhone X. It is rumoured to have a 6.2-inch screen, slightly bigger than the iPhone 14. Apple is likely to use the A16 Bionic chip, the same as the iPhone 14 series, for the standard model. The Pro models, on the other hand, will use the new A17 Bionic SoC. This is part of Apple's strategy to offer older flagship chips with the standard models.

The iPhone 15 is anticipated to feature a 48-megapixel wide camera, a major upgrade from the 12-megapixel sensors seen on the current models. It is expected to have three cameras at the back instead of the dual camera setup seen in older models. However, the telephoto lens for optical zoom and LiDAR will likely remain exclusive to the higher-end models. Unfortunately, there is no information on the battery or fast charging technology.
