As per a report by MacRumors that quotes analyst Jeff Pu, the forthcoming Apple iPhone SE 4 may be equipped with an Apple-made 5G modem, which would be a first for the company. The report suggests that the phone is slated for launch in 2025, and the modem will be manufactured by TSMC, Apple's chip supplier. This information was provided in a research note by Haitong International Securities on Tuesday.

In a recent report, Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst who specializes in Apple, proposed that the company has restarted the production of the iPhone SE 4. This new phone is expected to have an in-house 5G chip developed by Apple, replacing the current Qualcomm chips. Although Kuo didn't provide a specific launch date, he hinted that the iPhone SE 4 wouldn't be available until 2024 at the earliest.

The iPhone SE 2022 was the third model in Apple's lineup, succeeding the iPhone SE (2020) released two years earlier. As a result, the product was eagerly anticipated upon release. The iPhone SE (2022) had many compelling features, including the latest flagship A15 Bionic chipset, which was also used in the iPhone 13 series.

Additionally, 5G connectivity support was added to this budget-friendly iPhone. The phone was also reasonably priced, starting at $429, which was only slightly higher than the previous iPhone SE 2020, which sold for $399.

Now, the upcoming Apple iPhone SE 4 is rumoured to be equipped with an Apple-made 5G modem, which would be a first for the company. This development represents a significant change in strategy for Apple, as it seeks to become more self-reliant in producing essential components for its devices. This move would allow Apple to provide its customers with more tailored features and customization options.

The existing iPhone SE model uses Qualcomm's Snapdragon X57 chip for sub-6GHz 5G connectivity. However, Apple's in-house modem is expected to provide faster 5G speeds and better power efficiency than the current Qualcomm chip.
