Apple has rolled out a new set of software updates for iPhones, iPads, and Macs to address some known issues and fix bugs that were spotted by users after the last software update. The new updates include the latest iOS 16.3.1, iPadOS 16.3.1, and macOS Ventura 13.2.1 iterations.

While the new updates do not add any new features to the devices, they optimise crash detection for the latest iPhone models and provide some critical security fixes. For instance, the macOS Ventura 13.2.1 update addresses a security hole in WebKit that was being "actively exploited" by attackers, which could lead to arbitrary code execution and give hackers access to the system.

To check for software updates on iPhones and iPads, users can head to Settings > General > Software update. The new iOS 16.3.1 is 331MB in size, and similar methods can be followed on iPads to check for software updates on the tablets.

The new updates are available for eligible smartphones globally, including iPhone 14, iPhone 13, iPhone 12, iPhone 11, iPhone XS, iPhone XR, iPhone X, and iPhone SE.

On the other hand, Mac users can select the Apple menu on the top left and choose System Settings or System Preferences to check for software updates. If they choose System Preferences, they can click Software Update in the window.

The new updates come almost three weeks after Apple rolled out iOS 16.3 for iPhones, which added support for the newly launched HomePod (2nd-generation) and external security keys to enable two-factor authentication. In honour of Black History Month in the US, the update included a brand-new Unity wallpaper that paid tribute to Black history and culture.
