Apple raises AppleCare+ subscription prices for these buyers. Check details

Apple has increased the price of AppleCare+ subscriptions for customers buying new Macs and iPads. The revised pricing applies only to new subscribers, while existing customers already enrolled in AppleCare+ will continue to pay their current subscription rates.

The company has raised the monthly AppleCare+ subscription fee for eligible Macs and iPads by $0.50, while annual plans now cost $5 more than before. AppleCare+ provides extended technical support, hardware repair coverage, and protection against accidental damage, subject to the terms of the plan.

For instance, the monthly AppleCare+ subscription for the 13-inch MacBook Air has increased from $7.49 to $7.99, while the annual plan now costs $79.99, up from $74.99. Similar price revisions have been introduced for several other products, including MacBook models, the Mac mini, Mac Studio, iMac, standard iPads, M4 and M5 iPad Pro models, and the iPad mini.


The subscription price hike comes after Apple recently increased prices for several Mac and iPad models. Depending on the device, hardware prices have risen by $100 to $1,300, with reports attributing the increases to global memory shortages and higher component costs.

Apple has not said that the AppleCare+ price increase is directly related to rising memory costs. However, industry reports suggest that growing demand for DRAM and NAND memory, driven largely by artificial intelligence workloads, has pushed up manufacturing expenses across the technology sector.

Separately, supply chain reports indicate that Apple's future iPhone lineup could also become more expensive. The iPhone 18 Pro Max with 1TB of storage is reportedly expected to cost as much as $300 more than the current-generation equivalent.
