Apple gears up for iOS 26.1: New look, smarter features, stronger security.
Apple is reportedly gearing up to roll out the iOS 26.1 update in early November. While the company has yet to confirm an official release date, many claimed that the update could arrive as soon as November 3 or 4, following the final beta release expected next week.

Apple iOS 26.1 expected features

The iOS 26.1 update is said to include several notable upgrades across customization, accessibility, and security. Among the headline features is a new Liquid Glass interface toggle, giving users two style options under Settings > Display & Brightness > Liquid Glass — “Clear” for a transparent look and “Tinted” for a softer, opaque finish.

The update reportedly will also bring a Lock Screen toggle to disable the camera swipe gesture, allowing users to prevent accidental camera launches by turning off the “Lock Screen Swipe to Open Camera” feature under settings.

Another convenience upgrade may come to the Clock app, where a new “slide to stop” gesture for alarms and timers will replace the single stop button. This change aims to reduce unintended dismissals, a common issue reported in earlier iOS 26 builds.

In the Apple Music app, users will soon be able to swipe between songs directly within the player interface, making music navigation smoother and more intuitive.

A major branding update accompanies the release as Apple TV+ transitions to “Apple TV”, featuring a redesigned, more colorful app icon to align with the company’s refreshed identity.

Additionally, Apple Intelligence will expand to support more languages — including Danish, Dutch, Norwegian, Portuguese (Portugal), Swedish, Turkish, Chinese (Traditional), and Vietnamese — widening accessibility for users worldwide.

AirPods’ Live Translation feature will also gain new language options such as Japanese, Korean, Italian, and both Traditional and Simplified Chinese, enhancing real-time translation on AirPods 4 (ANC), AirPods Pro 2, and AirPods Pro 3.

Finally, iOS 26.1 may introduce a Background Security Improvements feature under Settings > Privacy & Security, which automatically installs security patches between major updates. This system will replace the earlier Rapid Security Response method, ensuring faster protection against evolving online threats.
