In a tweet, Tim Cook shared his heartfelt condolences to the people of Syria, Turkey, and other places affected by the earthquakes. The Apple CEO confirmed that Apple will make donations toward the relief and recovery efforts in the badly affected regions. A similar message was shared by Google CEO Sundar Pichai. The chief stated that the search engine company has activated ‘SOS alerts’ to aid relief operations. The service will provide emergency information to the people impacted by the calamity. Pichai added that Google and its employees will offer support to the victims of the tragedy.
A massive earthquake of 7.8 magnitude hit Syria and Turkey on February 6, 2023, leaving the two countries in shambles. It was followed by two more earthquakes rating 7.6 and 6.0 respectively on the Richter scale. The rescue teams have launched search operations to find the survivors who are currently buried under the debris. Turkey and Syria have received a promise of help from dozens of countries across the globe including India.
The latest reports informed that India will send its first batch of relief material and NDRF teams to Turkey today. A squad of specially trained dogs, medical essentials, drilling equipment, and other necessary supplies will also be provided by India to support relief activities in the country. Ukraine, Russia, USA, South Korea, and others have announced their support for the two countries.
