Apple could release its e-SIM-only iPhone in 14 series models this year

According to a new WSJ report quoting some sources, the tech giant has been preparing the groundwork to do away with the SIM card slot.

Just before every Apple iPhone launch, rumour mills start working in full-swing. As per the latest rumours, Apple is reportedly planning to get rid of the SIM card slot on its iPhones. And, in near future, the tech behemoth could provide support for eSIM only. According to some reports, the company might release an e-SIM only iPhone series models.

To keep the exclusivity, which has remained the forte of the company, Apple could offer these iPhone with e-SIMs, only in selected markets.

According to a new WSJ report quoting some sources, the tech giant has been preparing the groundwork to do away with the SIM card slot.


The company is expected to take gradual steps towards achieving this goal. Apple first introduced its much-talked about e-SIM technology on its smartphones in the iPhone XS series, back in 2018. Since then, the tech giant has made great progress and its 13 series which was introduced last year also supports dual e-SIM cards.
