A video of stray dogs attacking a child has surfaced on the internet.

The video, dated 04-02-2024, was posted by Sukhie Brar on X. However, it is not clear where the incident happened.

In the video, two kids are seen walking by two stray dogs. Later, the two dogs are seen chasing one of the kids, who falls on the ground. Soon after, three other dogs rush to the spot and surround the kid.

Luckily, a woman comes to the rescue of the kid before an untoward incident could happen.

The video has now gone viral on the internet with over 4 lakh views at the time of writing this news.

Many X users commented on the video, voicing their concern over stray dogs.

"The escalating issue of stray dogs on Indian streets calls for a much-needed national campaign to address public health risks, safety concerns, and animal welfare. That should include spay and neuter programs, vaccination drives, education on pet ownership, community stray dog management, and initiatives promoting the rescue and adoption of these animals. A concerted effort from government bodies, animal welfare organizations, and the general public is essential to create a sustainable solution, fostering a safer and more compassionate environment for both humans and animals," wrote one X user.

Another person, however, said that the dogs were merely curious and they might not have attacked the kid if he had not run away.

"Why did the kid have to run? Teach your kids compassion and love. Had the kid just whistled or called out to the dog in a loving manner, the dogs wouldn't have attacked! They were just curious!" he wrote.

Many stray dog attacks have recently come to light, with the Kerala High Court even saying to the extent that human lives should be given preference over dogs. In view of rising dog attack cases, the Kerala High Court earlier this month also directed the State government to frame guidelines, schemes, or rules to give licenses to individuals interested in maintaining stray dogs so that dog lovers can protect the animals.

In 2023, the Karnataka High Court also voiced its concern. While showing sympathy towards stray dogs, the court said that while feeding them is important, it should not lead to chaos and endanger the public.
