Annapurna Bhandar Yojana West Bengal
Annapurna Yojana, also called Annapurna Bhandar Yojana, is West Bengal's revamped women's welfare scheme that has effectively taken over from Lakshmir Bhandar. The state Cabinet cleared it on May 11, and a formal notification followed on May 19. The scheme became operational on June 3, when the government credited the first round of payments, over 28 lakh women received ₹3,000 directly into their Aadhaar-linked bank accounts that day alone. Also Read: Annapurna Yojana Status Check online: How to check your name on the beneficiary list for Rs 3,000 monthly
That's the headline change: instead of the old two-tier payout of ₹1,500 for general category women and ₹1,700 for SC/ST women, Annapurna Yojana gives every eligible woman a flat ₹3,000 a month, regardless of category. Existing Lakshmir Bhandar beneficiaries are being migrated automatically after a verification drive, while new applicants can register separately. Within a month of launch, coverage had already expanded from those initial 28 lakh women to over a crore.

A Word Of Caution
Because this scheme is trending, it's also attracting opportunists. Several unofficial "information" websites have popped up mimicking government branding, some even collecting personal details under the guise of "faster processing." A few ground rules worth repeating to anyone in your family applying for this:- The scheme is completely free. Nobody official will ever ask for money to process your form.
- Never share OTPs, bank PINs, or passwords with anyone claiming to help you apply.
- Stick to government domains — official West Bengal portals end in .gov.in, not .com, .in, or .org variants that merely resemble them.
The Samarth Portal
A lot of the confusion online traces back to people mixing up two different portals, so here's the plain version. The Samarth Portal (samarth.wb.gov.in) is the state's unified dashboard built under the "One Umbrella Scheme" for social pensions and welfare benefits. Rather than beneficiaries running between departments for every scheme, Samarth pulls old-age allowances, widow pensions, disability benefits, and similar programmes onto a single screen. It's built with technical backing from the National Informatics Centre, so it's meant to be the long-term, one-stop tracking system going forward.
For Annapurna Yojana specifically, though, the government has been directing most traffic to two dedicated web addresses instead: socialregistry.wb.gov.in for fresh registrations, and socialsecurity.wb.gov.in for tracking applications and payments. Think of Samarth as the bigger umbrella and these two as the scheme-specific doors underneath it — both matter, but you'll likely use the latter two more often for Annapurna-related work.
How To Log In And Register On Annapurna Yojana Portal
- Open the official Annapurna/Social Registry portal and look for "Access Citizen Portal" or "New Registration."
- Select your district from the dropdown.
- Enter your registered mobile number and request an OTP.
- Verify using the OTP sent to your phone.
- Once verified, a seven-part application form opens up — covering basic details, ration card information, assets, income and profession, identity proof, existing government benefits, and family details.
- Fill it in, attach the required documents, and submit.
How to Check Your Annapurna Bhandar Yojana Application Or Payment Status
To check your Annapurna Yojana status:- Head to the payment/status tracking portal (socialsecurity.wb.gov.in).
- Look for "Track Applicant Status" or a similarly worded option.
- Enter either your Application Reference Number, your registered mobile number, or your Aadhaar number when asked.
- The result will show you where things stand — pending, approved, or rejected, with a reason if it's the latter.
