Anita Kanwal says savings may run out in a year, Gangaajal actor reveals why she needs work despite children offering financial support

Veteran actor Anita Kanwal, who has spent over three decades in the entertainment industry, has opened up about her financial struggles and difficulty finding acting opportunities. Known for her performances in television shows such as Chanakya, Banegi Apni Baat and Sasural Genda Phool, as well as films like Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa and Laawaris, the actor revealed that her savings could run out within a year, making it urgent for her to find work.

Although her children are willing to provide financial support, Anita does not want to depend on them. She hopes to remain financially independent, continue supporting herself and retain the ability to help others. The actor also spoke about how rising living expenses have made it increasingly difficult to manage her finances.

Anita Kanwal Says Her Savings Could Run Out In A Year

In an interview with Vickey Lalwani, Anita spoke candidly about her financial situation and explained why she needs to continue working. She said that while she owns a house, a significant portion of her savings may soon be exhausted.

“I need to earn. Maybe I'll live for 10 more years or 20 more years, what will I do? I live in a beautiful house which some of it was done by my parents, some I took loan and I paid it off. So that is my only asset and I have a little capital which I know will be exhausted in a year, so that's why I need work. My funds are running low.”

The actor explained that her house is her primary asset, while her remaining financial resources are gradually dwindling. This has made finding new acting assignments an important priority for her.

Why Anita Kanwal Does Not Want To Depend On Her Children

Anita shared that her children often worry about her financial situation and are prepared to help her if necessary. However, she would prefer to manage her own expenses rather than rely on them.

While explaining her perspective, the actor recalled the values instilled in her by her grandfather, a farmer from Himachal Pradesh. She said he taught her the importance of helping others instead of asking them for assistance.

“I never want to reach a point where I have to depend on my children or ask them for anything. I want to continue providing them, just like always. They sometimes ask, ‘Mom, why do you still give us birthday gifts?' It actually hurts me when they say that, because I enjoy giving. I want to remain in a position where I can continue to do so.”

For Anita, financial independence is not just about meeting her own needs but also about retaining the freedom to give gifts to her children and help people around her.

Rising Expenses Add To Anita Kanwal's Financial Concerns

The actor also spoke about the challenges of managing her day-to-day expenses amid rising living costs. Despite carefully planning her spending, she said it has become increasingly difficult to balance her finances.

The actor also expressed surprise when casting professionals ask her about her previous work, considering her extensive career.

“It’s fine if someone asks me to introduce myself, but when they ask what work I have done, I find that very weird. I have done 50–60 shows in my life. I still get casting calls to play 21-year-old characters because they don’t know who to send the message," she said.
