National Award-winning Bengali filmmaker Anik Dutta has passed away after sustaining severe injuries following a fall from the roof of his residence in Hindustan Park on Wednesday. He was rushed to a hospital in Dhakuria in critical condition, where he later died. Reports also state that he had been dealing with respiratory issues for a prolonged period.

He later went on to direct Aparajito, starring Jeetu Kamal, which received a strong response from audiences and performed well at the box office. At the time of his passing, Anik Dutta was also working on Aparajito 2.

Who is Anik Dutta

Anik Dutta is the grandson of Narendra Chandra Dutta, the founder of United Bank of India. He made his directorial debut in 2012 with Bhooter Bhabishyat, which featured actors such as Sabyasachi Chakrabarty, Parambrata Chatterjee, Paran Bandopadhyay, Swastika Mukherjee, Mir Afsar Ali, and Saswata Chatterjee. He is also known for directing films including Bhooter Bhabishyat (2012), Borunbabur Bondhu (2020), and Aparajito (2022).
