Angelina Jolie has sold her iconic Los Feliz estate in Los Angeles, a property she had previously said she planned to leave behind once her children turned 18. The actress bought the sprawling estate in 2017 for USD 24.5 million and has now sold it to another global celebrity — pop icon Madonna.

The property has a long Hollywood history and was once owned by filmmaker Cecil B. DeMille. Over the years, the Los Feliz estate has also been associated with several other celebrities, making it one of the area’s notable properties.

Angelina Jolie bought the Los Feliz estate in 2017

Jolie purchased the Los Feliz property in 2017 for around USD 24.5 million as part of her extensive real estate portfolio. The estate, built in 1913, was once home to Hollywood pioneer Cecil B. DeMille.

According to The New York Post, DeMille later expanded the property by acquiring a neighbouring estate that had previously been leased to Charlie Chaplin. The sprawling compound is located in the double-gated Laughlin Park community and covers around 2.1 acres.

The property has also had several notable celebrity connections over the years, including Carole Lombard, Cary Grant, Ellen Pompeo and Kristen Stewart.

The main residence spans around 11,000 square feet and features six bedrooms and 10 bathrooms. Along with the main house, the property includes a private guesthouse, pool house, gym, tea house and detached garage.

The interiors retain much of the estate’s old-world character, with a dramatic curved staircase, arched doorways, wood-panelled walls and a restored fireplace.

The primary bedroom includes a private sitting room, marble fireplace, spa-style bathroom and custom dressing rooms. French doors open directly onto an outdoor terrace, adding to the room’s appeal.

The estate also has a private library and a climate-controlled wine cellar. The library features mahogany panelling and floor-to-ceiling built-in shelves, while the kitchen combines modern appliances with marble countertops and a glass-enclosed breakfast room overlooking the gardens.

Madonna becomes the new owner

Madonna is now the latest celebrity owner of the historic Los Feliz estate, following DeMille and Jolie.

According to The New York Post, the singer expressed interest in the property and was given a private tour even while she was away from Los Angeles. Jolie reportedly arranged the viewing after learning that Madonna was interested in buying the home.

Jolie had initially listed the property for USD 29.85 million in the spring but ultimately sold it for a considerably lower price. Despite the difference between the asking price and final sale price, she reportedly made a profit of around USD 250,000 compared with what she paid for the estate in 2017.
