Telangana, Andhra Weather Update: Thunderstorms and hailstorms likely in several districts
Weather conditions may turn volatile in districts such as Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Rangareddy, Kamareddy, Bhadradri–Kothagudem, Mulugu, Mahabubabad, Yadadri–Bhongir, Jangaon, Medak and Siddipet.Authorities expect scattered intense thunderstorms along with possible hailstorms from afternoon through the night in these areas.
Meanwhile, isolated thunderstorms are also likely in Khammam, Sircilla, Warangal, Mahabubnagar, Wanaparthy and Nagarkurnool.
Hyderabad to see rain and gusty winds at night
Hyderabad is likely to remain dry during the day, but the situation could change after sunset.The IMD has indicated scattered moderate rain and thunderstorms during the night hours, accompanied by gusty winds that may reach speeds of up to 40 kmph.
Heavy rain lashed parts of the state on March 16
Several districts in Telangana witnessed intense rainfall on March 16. The IMD recorded 2.4 centimetres of rainfall in Mannur, 1.8 centimetres in Medak district and 1 centimetre in Raikod in Sangareddy district.In Medak district, heavy rain poured down for around 30 minutes in Tupran and Shivvampet. Trees were uprooted at several locations, leading to disruption of electricity supply in some areas.
In Hyderabad, rain was reported from multiple localities including Balanagar, Alwal, Asifnagar, Nampally, Khairatabad, Malkajgiri, Jubilee Hills and Banjara Hills. Medchal town and areas in the Ghatkesar circle also received heavy showers.
Farmers in some districts expressed concern that sudden rain and strong winds could damage mango plantations and standing crops.
Temperatures expected to drop in coming days
The IMD has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall at some places on Tuesday and Wednesday. The weather department also expects maximum temperatures to fall by three to four degrees Celsius over the next five days due to the changing weather pattern.Vijayawada weather: Thunderstorm Alert
In Vijayawada, the day may begin with strong sunshine, but weather conditions could turn unstable later. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 35°C while the minimum may hover near 23°C.Humidity levels are likely to stay around 47%, making the weather feel warmer than usual despite the sunshine.
According to the IMD, there is nearly an 80% chance of thunderstorms in the city later in the day. The sky may remain partly cloudy during the day but could turn fully cloudy by night.
Rain in coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema
The IMD has also predicted light to moderate rainfall in parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh and the Rayalaseema region. Weather experts say the change in conditions is linked to a trough developing over the Bay of Bengal.If the system strengthens, it could bring some relief from the intense heat experienced over the past few days across several regions.
