Four Die in Andhra Pradesh After Inhaling Bike Fumes Overnight
A tragic incident in the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh has left a community in shock after four members of a family died due to suspected carbon monoxide poisoning. Police said the victims inhaled fumes from a motorbike that had been left running throughout the night inside their home.

As per an IANS report, the incident took place in Punganur in the Annamayya district on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday.


Andhra Pradesh Tragedy: Family Members Die After Inhaling Bike Fumes

According to police, four members of a family died in their sleep after toxic fumes filled the house. The victims were identified as a 70-year-old grandfather, his grandson and two young granddaughters.

Authorities said the victims were sleeping inside their house while the motorbike engine remained switched on for several hours.

Bike Engine Left Running Overnight in Andhra Pradesh Home

Police investigation revealed that Murali, a local hair salon owner, had taken his motorbike for servicing earlier that day. The mechanic reportedly replaced the bore piston due to an engine issue.

Murali was allegedly advised to keep the engine running overnight after the repair.

Later that evening, Murali parked the bike inside the house and kept the engine running. He also closed all the doors and windows of the house before going to bed.

Murali and his wife Revati slept on the terrace, while Murali’s father and the three children slept inside the house.

Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Suspected in Andhra Pradesh Incident

During the night, smoke and exhaust fumes from the bike gradually filled the house because the doors and windows were shut.

Police believe the victims died after inhaling carbon monoxide, a toxic gas produced by vehicle exhaust that can be fatal when inhaled in enclosed spaces.

The victims were discovered dead the following morning.

Police shifted the bodies for post-mortem examination, and preliminary findings indicate death due to asphyxiation caused by inhaling toxic fumes.

Andhra Pradesh Police Launch Investigation Into Incident

Authorities in Punganur have registered a case and launched a detailed investigation into the incident.

The tragic event has shocked local residents and raised concerns about safety precautions when dealing with vehicle engines in enclosed spaces.

Separate Road Accident in Andhra Pradesh Leaves Two Dead

In a separate incident in Visakhapatnam on Sunday, two people lost their lives in a road accident.

According to police, the crash occurred at BHPV Junction when a truck ran over vehicles that had stopped at an intersection.

Two people died on the spot, including a man identified as Ramakrishna, who was travelling with his daughter to the Simhachalam Temple. Another victim was identified as Santoshi.

A car and two two-wheelers were also damaged in the accident.

Police have arrested the truck driver and launched an investigation into the crash.
