Ananya Panday has opened the doors to her first home in Mumbai, offering a glimpse into her 1,100-square-foot apartment in Bandra, designed by celebrity interior designer Gauri Khan. According to Architectural Digest, the home brings together soft colours, natural light, indoor plants and custom-made furniture to create a space that reflects the actor’s personality and lifestyle. More than just a home, the apartment marks an important milestone in Panday’s journey towards independence and adulthood.

“I think it has become a symbol and metaphor for me actually growing up and taking responsibility,” Panday told the publication in 2025, reflecting on the significance of owning her own home.

Ananya Panday wanted her first home to reflect her personality

Located just a few floors away from her parents’ residence in Bandra, Panday’s apartment offers her a space of her own while keeping her close to family. The actor had long imagined how she would personalise her home, from selecting her own cutlery to developing her style of hosting guests.

That individuality is evident from the entrance itself. A striking pink door opens into a corridor with pink fluted walls, with similar shades carried into the bedroom and walk-in wardrobe. The kitchen introduces a contrasting colour palette, featuring baby-blue cabinetry and white countertops.

How Gauri Khan designed Ananya Panday’s Bandra apartment

Gauri Khan was a natural choice to design the interiors, given her longstanding relationship with Panday’s family. The designer has worked on several celebrity homes, while her friendship with the actor’s parents, Chunky and Bhavana Panday, goes back years.

Their personal bond meant Panday did not have to provide detailed instructions for the project.

“Honestly, I didn't have to say much to her because I've grown up around her and she's been like another mother to me,” she said.

The living and dining areas feature a more understated combination of beige and cream. Custom furniture from Gauri Khan Designs, textured walls, wallpapers, rugs and fluted finishes add character to the interiors while maintaining a sense of openness.

Large windows overlooking the leafy lanes of Bandra allow daylight to flow into the apartment. Indoor plants and a spacious balcony further enhance its relaxed atmosphere, while the living room serves as a space for both unwinding and entertaining guests.

Panday has a particular fondness for the corner near the balcony, where she can spend hours enjoying the breeze and natural light.

“I can sit in this exact spot for hours. I don't even realize how time passes, because this window is always open and the breeze comes in and there's lots of natural light,” she said.

She also recalled how sunlight passing through the glass creates rainbows in the afternoon, adding to the appeal of the corner.

A pink corridor, a blue kitchen and a space for baking

The pink corridor connects several areas of the apartment, including the kitchen, where baby-blue cabinets and white countertops create a softer, contemporary look. Baking has also become one of Panday’s ways to unwind, making the kitchen a functional part of her everyday life.

The living room features a separate television area alongside a growing collection of books. Meanwhile, the dining space benefits from large windows and strategically placed mirrors that maximise the available light.

Across the apartment, the design balances colour with texture. Fluted surfaces, wallpapers, rugs and upholstered furniture add visual interest without overwhelming the space.

Ananya Panday on learning to live alone

Beyond its interiors, the apartment represents a personal milestone for Panday as she adjusts to living independently. Initially, the actor was protective of her new space and preferred to keep visitors away, joking that she wanted it to remain like a museum.

Over time, she realised that welcoming friends and family made the apartment feel more like a home. The experience also taught her to become comfortable with her own company.

“A big thing for me was learning how to be alone. Even if I'm just quiet and there's noise around me, I don't have to talk to someone all the time, which I really needed to do before this,” she said.

As she began inviting loved ones over, Panday discovered that a home was not meant to be preserved like a display space but lived in and shared with others.

On the professional front, Ananya Panday was most recently seen in the romantic drama Chand Mera Dil, opposite Lakshya, produced by Dharma Productions.
