Anand Mahindra's number 55 jersey sparks curiosity as ICC Men's World Cup 2023 begins

There’s no doubt that business tycoon Anand Mahindra is an ardent cricket fan. However, in one of his recent posts on X (formerly Twitter), the Chairman of Mahindra group stirred curiosity and speculation with a picture that featured a Team India jersey bearing the number 55.

With the start of ICC Men’s World Cup 2023, Mahindra took to the micro-blogging site and expressed his readiness for the cricketing extravaganza. His post included a picture of the jersey, emblazoned with the number 55 and the caption, "I am ready. Thanks BCCI, Tech Mahindra."



This seemingly innocuous tweet ignited a flurry of questions and guesses from people, all trying to decipher the significance of the number 55. Some speculated that it might be his lucky number, while others ventured to guess it was his birth year.


To this Mahindra replied, “I’m curious to see who can figure that outâ€æ”. And the internet did not disappoint.

This year, India is hosting the quadrennial flagship tournament, marking the 13th edition since the inception of the Men’s World Cup in 1975.
