Industrialist Anand Mahindra on Sunday expressed his desire to visit Kadamakkudy, a scenic cluster of islands in Kerala often described as one of the most beautiful villages in the world. Sharing his travel plans on social media, Mahindra said he hopes to explore the region this December when he is scheduled to travel to Kochi for a business trip. He added that Kadamakkudy, located just half an hour from Kochi, is now firmly on his bucket list.

Kadamakkudy is a picturesque cluster of islands located in the Ernakulam district of Kerala, just about 10–15 kilometers from Kochi city. Known for its stunning backwaters, lush paddy fields, and serene village life, Kadamakkudy is a lesser-known but increasingly celebrated destination for nature lovers and photographers.

The region is made up of more than a dozen small islands interconnected by narrow bridges and canals. It offers a glimpse into traditional Keralite lifestyles, with sights of Chinese fishing nets, local fishermen at work, and coconut palms lining the waterways. The area becomes particularly captivating during sunrise and sunset, when the skies reflect dramatically off the still waters.

Tourism in Kadamakkudy is still relatively low-key, preserving its charm and tranquility. It is also a growing spot for eco-tourism and cycling tours, especially among travelers seeking quiet, offbeat locations close to urban centers like Kochi.

Netizens react

Several users reacted warmly to the post, calling the destination “heaven on earth” and praising its breathtaking views. Many highlighted the natural beauty of Kerala, describing it as a shining example of India’s scenic richness. Others urged both the central and state governments to invest more in the region, saying Kerala has the potential to compete with top global cities. A few also shared practical travel tips, noting that the landscape looks its best during the rainy and cooler months, while the summer heat can significantly dull its charm compared to the picturesque visuals.
