Ayan Ahmed, the alleged mastermind of Amravati sex abuse scandal, lured women, many of them minors
Amravati scandal: In Maharashtra's Amravati, police have arrested Ayan Ahmed, accused of sexually exploiting at least 180 minor girls and recording over 350 obscene videos. Ayan, 19-year-old, allegedly lured the girls into a "love trap," took them to Mumbai and Pune, and filmed obscene videos of them, police said. The sexual abuse and blackmail of minor girls in Amravati would have continued but a dispute between the accused, Ayan Ahmed and Uzer Khan exposed the scandal, reports TOI's Dhananjay Sable and Abhishek Choudhari. Police said the key accused Ayan Ahmed, a second-year college student at Achalpur, was a former member of Asaduddin Owaisi's AIMIM and looked after the social media handle of the party.

The two had a bet on who would win more girls, which gradually escalated to recording and uploading explicit content online, TOI reported citing sources. A local politician who knew Ayan Ahmed said the dispute with Uzer happened over money and the latter then posted the videos online in a fit of rage.
Mujeeb Rashid, councillor at Achalpur Municipal Council, told TOI that Ahmed's videos began going viral in the last two weeks. What the politician did not realise was that this was not just a leaked video of two consenting adults, but a collection of 18 sex videos and 39 explicit photographs that allegedly pointed to sexual abuse and blackmail.

"Ten days ago, I heard about the viral videos, though I did not view them. I accosted Ahmed, who apologised profusely, and warned him that he was spoiling his life by going behind girls at an age when he should be focusing on studies. Ahmed promised he would mend his ways and went away," Mujeeb Rashid told TOI.

"Ahmed said there was a video which was deleted and there won't be any more trouble, I believed him," said the councillor, Rashid. He was in for a major shock when details of the case came out. "When I started inquiring, people told me that Ahmed was roaming around on a flashy bike and splurging money. His father deals in second-hand vehicles, so while they are not poor, they are definitely not loaded with cash," said Rashid.

How did Ayan love-trap girls?

TOI reported, citing sources that Ayan Ahmed, the alleged mastermind of the Amravati sex abuse scandal, lured women, many of them minors, into relationships, sexually exploited them in a rented room, and recorded at least 100 videos that were later circulated. The girls whom Ahmed managed to trap were from different towns who most likely came to study at the college or enrolled in a coaching institute. Police are also probing if Ahmed used social media to contact these girls before taking the relationship forward.

Politician Rashid told police some people said Ahmed was involved in betting. "Now that all this happened, I asked around how Ahmed had so much disposable cash. Some say he was involved in betting, but I could not verify it."

Rashid said, "We came to know that Ahmed's intimate videos were in Uzer's possession. Whether the two were partners in crime or Uzer managed to get the videos from Ahmed's phone is something I am not aware of. But I have been told Uzer had some monetary demands which Ahmed was unable to fulfil. And Uzer followed through on his threat by making the videos viral."

House demolished

Within 24 hours of a 19-year-old from Amravati district being arrested for allegedly sexually abusing minor girls and recording the acts to blackmail them, authorities demolished his family home in Paratwada town on Wednesday morning.

Police have constituted a 47-member SIT and arrested 3 youths for circulating the videos. All four have been remanded in police custody till April 21, sources said, adding 2 more suspects are likely to be arrested soon. Police have so far identified 8 survivors. Amravati SP Vishal Anand said. “We have contacted the survivors’ families and requested them to give statements.”

Some Hindu organisations claimed the case was an instance of “love jihad”, but Pyare Khan dismissed these allegations. He said he spoke to Vishal Anand, who confirmed that all eight victims identified so far belong to the Muslim community.
