'Ammi stole my candies, jail her': 3-yr-old complains to police in viral video

A three-year-old boy from Burhanpur in Madhya Pradesh walked into a police station and demanded that his mother be arrested for "stealing" his candies and "slapping" him.

The boy came to the Dedhtalai police post on Sunday afternoon with his father and narrated his ordeal to sub-inspector Priyanka Nayak.

"Ammi stole my candies, put her in jail," he told the police official, who struggled hard to control her laughter.


A video of that adorable exchange has gone viral after it was shared on Twitter.

To indulge the little boy, Nayak made a show of diligently writing down his complaint.

“He ensured that the name of his ‘Ammi’ was put in the complaint though he did not know the actual name of his mother,” a report in the Week quoted sub-inspector Nayak as saying.

After he got an assurance from the police official that his mother would be "arrested", the boy went on to "sign" his complaint.

The boy's father said the child insisted on complaining to police after his mother scolded him for not letting her apply a black "tika" on his forehead after bathing.

When the child kept insisting on complaining against his mother, he took him to the nearest police post.

Burhanpur's Superintendent of Police Rahul Kumar said he spoke to the boy's father, who said the child was fascinated with police and was curious to know about them.

After the clip went viral, Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra made a video call to the boy on Tuesday. The minister asked him what he wanted and promised to send chocolates and a bicycle to him on the upcoming Diwali festival, PTI reported.
