Bollywood veteran Amitabh Bachchan has opened up about his decision to quit smoking and drinking in a recent blog post. The actor shared his experience of consuming pure alcohol with his classmates during his post-graduation years, which led to them falling sick and taught him the ill-effects of the elixir. He also admitted to instances when alcohol played havoc due to excess consumption, and he realized it was a personal choice to quit.

Bachchan also shared his method of quitting smoking, stating that the best way to get rid of the cancer-causing habit is to stop it at once. He suggested crushing the cigarette while smoking and saying goodbye to it, rather than gradually dwindling the habit.

Earlier this month, Bachchan resumed work on his upcoming film, Project K, despite still recovering from an injury he sustained on set. He suffered a rib cartilage and muscle tear while filming, and doctors advised him to rest at home after a CT scan in Hyderabad. Bachchan is also set to appear in several other upcoming films, including Ganapath, Section 84, a remake of The Intern, and R Balki's next.
