Amit Kumar returns as special guest in Indian Idol 13, a year after criticising show

Amit Kumar, popular playback singer of the 1970's and 80's, will come back as a special guest in the upcoming episode of Indian Idol 13. He was a special guest on Indian Idol 12 but later criticised it.

In the upcoming episode of Indian Idol 13, all the contestants will pay tribute to the legendary singer Kishore Kumar by singing his popular songs. Amit Kumar, the son of the late Kishore Kumar, will appear as a special guest in Indian Idol 13. He was also a special guest in the previous season of the singing competition.

The preview for this particular segment was uploaded by Sony TV, the broadcaster of Indian Idol. In the video shared by the broadcaster, Amit Kumar is seen as entering the show’s set, and everyone welcoming him by singing Kishore Kumar’s song.


After Bidipta’s performance, Amit Kumar sings several lines of his song Keh Do Ki Tum from Tezaab. He then reminisced about the song recording and said that Laxmikant, the composer, had already envisaged its success.

Netizens are surprised by Amit Kumar’s appearance because he was a part of the last season and criticised it in an interview with ETimes. He said he was asked to praise everyone however they sang, as it was a tribute special episode. He did so as it was in honour of his father. He asked the makers to give him a script, but no one listened to him.
