Amazon Prime Video set to launch new Indian period drama series called ‘Jubilee’

Amazon Prime Video has announced the upcoming release of a new Indian Hindi-language period drama series called ‘Jubilee’. The series has been created and directed by Vikramaditya Motwane and is being produced by Andolan Films, Phantom Studios, and Reliance Entertainment. Aditi Rao Hydari, Sidhant Gupta, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Ram Kapoor, Aparshakti Khurana, and Wamiqa Gabbi are all part of the show's cast. The series is set in the 1940s and 1950s era of the Bombay film industry and is scheduled for release on April 7, 2023.


The official announcement for the series was made on March 17, 2023, with the trailer being released on March 24, 2023. The production team held a trailer launch event on the same day where the leading cast was seen promoting their upcoming web series. Amit Trivedi, a long-time collaborator with Phantom Studios, is responsible for the music and composition of the series.



Amazon Prime Video has revealed its intention to increase its investment in India by two-fold in the next five years. This investment plan will involve the introduction of 40 new titles within the next two years. The platform aims to expand the scope of its unscripted series catalogue to explore genres such as biographies, true crime, and investigative docudramas.


The scripted original series will include collaborations with production companies such as Emmay Entertainment, Excel Entertainment, and Karan Johar productions. Some of the series announced include supernatural thriller 'Adhura,' 'Bambai Meri Jaan,' 'Call Me Bae,' 'Dahaad,' and 'Indian Police Force.'


Additionally, returning seasons of 'Made In Heaven' and 'Mirzapur' are also in the works. One of the unscripted shows that will be produced includes a documentary about AP Dhillon, a Punjabi hip hop singer. Additionally, there will be a docuseries titled 'India Love Project' featuring Karan Johar.


In addition, Amazon Prime Video introduced the Prime Video Store in April of the previous year. This TVoD (transaction-video-on-demand) service enables both Prime members and non-members to rent movies.
