Netflix had estimated to add around 1 million subscribers in the September quarter but hit the 2.4 million subscriber mark. It will premiere Amitabh Bachchan's "Goodbye" on its platform soon. This 2.4 million figure is pale compared to the 4.4 million subscribers it added during the same time last year. Users in Asia-Pacific added 1.43 million paying users alone. Its revenue increased from $834 million to $889 million by 19% in quarter 3, which excludes foreign exchange. Its average membership (paid) rose from 30.05 million to 36.23 million by 23% YoY. However, the average revenue per member decreased by 3%.

The Road Ahead

The ARM (average revenue per member) was lower in India and higher in Korea and Australia. Netflix's co-chief executive officer, Reed Hastings, said they were done with decreasing profits and are back to growth. He mentioned that Netflix focuses on marketing, content, lowering ad-supported model prices, etc. Netflix clocked $7.9 billion in the September quarter and is expected to hit $7.8 billion in revenue in the next quarter. Hastings added that the decline in revenue was due to the increase in the Dollar's strength compared to other currencies worldwide.
