Reddy describes the brownie as a healthier alternative to traditional versions, calling it a “fudgy, gooey, chocolate, decadent, un-urban and mouth-melting brownie” that is free from eggs, processed flour, and excessive sugar.

A Sweet Potato-Based Brownie

In a video shared on Instagram, Sameera Reddy walks viewers through the recipe with her trademark energy and expressive gestures. She reveals that the star ingredient of the brownie is steamed sweet potato, which forms the base of the batter and gives it a naturally rich, fudgy texture.



Ingredients

  • 3 large steamed, well-mashed sweet potatoes
  • 1 cup peanut or almond butter (or an allergy-friendly substitute)
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 6 tbsp flour (oat / white / almond)
  • Oat flour is simply oats blended in a mixer
  • ½ cup mini chocolate chips
  • Add more if you prefer extra sweetness
  • ⅔ cup jaggery powder or a sugar-free alternative
  • 6 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp cooking oil

Method

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C and line a baking pan.
  • In a bowl, mix the nut butter, vanilla extract, jaggery, and boiled sweet potato puree until smooth.
  • Add baking soda, oat flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Mix well, then add oil to bind the mixture.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips or sprinkle them on top.
  • Spread the batter evenly in the pan and add more chocolate chips if desired.
  • Bake for about 25 minutes, until the brownie is just set.
  • Allow it to cool completely to achieve the best fudgy texture.
