Ajay Devgn-Sidharth Malhotra's Thank God: Opening weekend gets lukewarm response

According to early projections, Ajay Devgn's movie 'Thank God' earned between Rs 8 and 9 crore on Tuesday at the box office. The movie, which stars Sidharth Malhotra and Rakul Preet Singh in key roles, has fared financially worse than Akshay Kumar's Ram Setu, which has a first-day opening of around Rs 15 crore.

Decent start
The next day after Diwali, on October 25, Ram Setu and Thank God were released. Surprisingly, ‘Thank God’ film did poorly in the country's north, though Ajay enjoys a huge popularity in this part of the country. Despite good predictions, the festival season hasn't yet benefited Bollywood much, so far - as many had expected.

''Thank God'' similar to ''God Tussi Great Ho''

The movie "Thank God" is similar to Amitabh Bachchan's 2008 movie ''God Tussi Great Ho'', which also featured Salman Khan in the lead role. According to some reports based on audience reaction, the only difference between both films is that Ajay Devgn makes a lengthy appearance in the Sidharth Malhotra-directed film.

The first teaser of the movie received mixed reactions, as some people found it offensive to see God's accountant, Chitragupta, played by Ajay Devgn, moving around with semi-clad women. The second trailer, however, sparked curiosity, and the song "Manike" from the film has since topped the charts.
