Bharti Airtel has begun offering complimentary Apple Music access to select prepaid customers in India, a benefit previously reserved for its postpaid and broadband subscribers. First reported by Telecom Talk, the move comes just weeks after Airtel introduced free access to Perplexity AI Pro for its user base, highlighting the company’s growing focus on bundling premium digital services.

Airtel-Apple Music offer details

Some prepaid subscribers have spotted an Apple Music banner within the Airtel Thanks app, indicating free access for up to six months. Once the trial ends, the subscription renews at ₹119 per month.

As Airtel has not released an official announcement, eligibility criteria remain uncertain. Users can confirm availability by checking directly in the Airtel Thanks app. Reports suggest that the benefit is appearing even on non-unlimited 5G plans, implying that it may not be tied to specific recharge packs.

Bundled digital services strategy

This move builds on Airtel’s February 2025 rollout, when it introduced Apple TV+ and Apple Music access for broadband and postpaid users. Extending the service to prepaid marks the next phase of the partnership between Airtel and Apple.

In parallel, Airtel has expanded its bundled recharge portfolio, combining data, calling, and entertainment subscriptions. The packs provide access to more than 25 OTT platforms, including Netflix, Disney+ Hotstar, Zee5, SonyLIV, Lionsgate Play, Hoichoi, SunNxt, and Aha, with content spanning over 16 languages.

For instance, the Rs 279 prepaid plan offers Netflix Basic, Zee5, Disney+ Hotstar, and Airtel Xstream Play Premium subscriptions—benefits valued at around Rs 750—along with data and calling. These OTT perks can also be availed through a “content-only” recharge pack that comes with 1GB of data.

Heavy data users can opt for the Rs 598 plan, which provides unlimited 5G data, unlimited calling, and bundled OTT services for 28 days. At the premium end, the Rs 1,729 plan includes unlimited 5G data and voice for 84 days, coupled with the same entertainment lineup.

Airtel-Perplexity AI offer

In July, Airtel also announced complimentary access to Perplexity AI Pro, a premium subscription priced at nearly ₹17,000 annually. The plan offers advanced AI tools, file uploads, and image generation features, underscoring Airtel’s intent to cater to both entertainment and productivity needs.

If made available widely, Airtel’s Apple Music initiative could draw in prepaid users who rely on ad-supported music apps, while giving Apple Music an opportunity to expand its footprint in India. The six-month free trial may also boost conversion rates for paid subscriptions once the offer period lapses.

For now, prepaid customers are advised to check the Airtel Thanks app to confirm if the benefit has been activated on their account.
