Ahead of West Indies ODIs, Shikhar Dhawan says: Lots of smiles, lots of wins

India play West Indies at Trinidad on Friday in their first ODI, and skipper Shikhar Dhawan said the team would enjoy the challenges and the results.

Dhawan is leading the team in the three-match ODI series against the West Indies in the absence of other senior players like Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Jasprit Bumrah who were rested.

In a video posted on the BCCI Twitter handle, Dhawan is heard saying: "Of course, we will enjoy in the West Indies. The weather would be a bit challenging, a bit different. But the boys are well prepared... All the young players who are with us, they may be young, but they are mature. They will get the exposure by playing in the West Indies. Also, they have already played in the IPL. With all that youth and experience we are going to have a great series. And lots of smiles, lots of wins."


He also said the West Indies would be a great opportunity for the players to peak and show their talents.

It was raining in many parts of Trinidad so the boys had their nets indoors. "As we have just come from the UK, we thought that it would be nice to have an (outdoor) practice session. But it started raining, opener Shubman Gill said in another video.

Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya have been rested for the ODI series. This has opened opportunities for the likes of Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan.
