Akhil Akkineni starrer 'Agent' is going slow, as the movie struggles to cross double-digit at the box office. Despite being directed by Surender Reddy, the film's story and screenplay have been heavily criticized by both the audience and critics.

However, the film managed to accumulate a meagre amount of around Rs 10 crore at the domestic box office after four days of its release. Recently, Amala Akkineni, the mother of the lead actor Akhil and a renowned actress from yesteryears, expressed her views about the film's response on social media.

The release of Akhil Akkineni's Agent coincided with the release of "Ponniyin Selvan: Part 2", and despite a decent opening, the Telugu film failed to strike a chord with the audience from day one. The negative word of mouth resulted in a sharp decline in the film's collection over the weekends.

As per estimates, on its first Monday at the box office (April 1), Agent managed to collect only Rs 75 lakh, bringing its total collection to Rs 9.60 crore over the four-day period. The film is, as per reports, made on a budget of whopping Rs 70-80 crores.

The film's producer, Anil Sunkara, took responsibility for the film's failure and posted a tweet on Twitter acknowledging that the project without a bound script was a mistake and that there were several issues, including COVID, that affected the film's production.
