Agent box office collection Day 2: Akhil Akkineni's action film earns lower than opening day

Akhil Akkineni's film Agent was finally released in theatres on April 28, 2023. However, the much-hyped action film has not received a good response in theatres. In spite of a decent performance by Akhil and a much-appreciated role by Malayalam superstar Mammootty, Agent did not pick up on its second day in theatres, according to the box office collection.

After an opening of Rs. 5 crore (some say Rs. 7 crore), Agent has reportedly managed to collect only Rs.2.6 crore on the second day. In fact, a report on Sacnilk says the box office collection is only Rs. 1.6 crore for Agent on Day 2.

The spy thriller has failed to impress moviegoers, in spite of good action sequences by Akhil as an agent of the Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW). The film was promoted heavily but did not do well.


Akhil Akkineni’s mother Amala Akkineni had shared a heartfelt post on social media about her son’s movie, how she enjoyed watching it and that audiences in the theatre were liking it, too. But this message by her did not translate to the audience going into the theatres.

Will Agent be out of theatres next week?

It is natural that Agent may see some shows being cancelled in theatres the coming week, as Ponniyin Selvan 2 and Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan continue to get the footfalls. There are also other major films like Guardians of the Galaxy.
