After KS Bharat drops catch, Twitter gets filled with memes about how much people missed Rishabh Pant

Team India wicketkeeper KS Bharat’s performance is getting scrutinised as the youngster dropped a catch on Day 1 of the fourth Test between India and Australia at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.

When it comes to keeping wicket in limited overs, Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul have stepped in, but Bharat has been preferred during the current Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023.

There had been much speculation about Ishan Kishan replacing Bharat in the team ahead of the fourth Test, but skipper Rohit Sharma has continued to back the 29-year-old player.


During the fourth Test, Bharat had a nervous start, missing several byes and dropping an easy catch that gave Australia a huge lifeline.



When Indian pacers began to bowl after Steve Smith won the toss and chose to bat first, the ball appeared to move around. Due to the late movement in the air, Bharat failed to judge the flight of the ball and could not take a catch after the ball took a healthy edge off Head's bat.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma stood beside the Andhra-born goalkeeper, and his reaction may have summed up the situation.

Fortunately, the dropped catch did not haunt the Indian team, as Ravichandran Ashwin removed Head soon after, ending the opening partnership at 61 runs. When Ashwin got Head to give up an easy catch to Ravindra Jadeja, he had scored 32 runs. Soon after, Mohammed Shami joined the party, removing Marnus Labuschagne, and the Aussies reached 75/2 at lunch on Day 1.
