Actor Imran Khan has offered fans a glimpse of his new home, sharing pictures of the house under construction on Instagram. Surrounded by nature, the property reflects the actor’s preference for a design that blends with its surroundings rather than standing out as a lavish holiday villa.

Alongside the pictures, Imran revealed that he had spent several years building the house, overseeing everything from selecting the site to designing the interiors. The actor also explained how the surrounding landscape influenced the architecture and construction process.

"So... one of the things I did over the past few years was to build a house. While I've played an architect in a few films, I can't pretend to have any kind of training or expertise... but I do enjoy tinkering and learning stuff!"

Imran Khan reveals how the landscape shaped his home

Explaining why he chose the location, Imran said the site stood out for its distinctive natural features. The uneven terrain, two seasonal streams, a cliff at the rear and views of the sunset influenced his vision for the property.

"I chose the site because it was unique. Uneven, flanked by two seasonal streams, backed right up against the base of a cliff... and facing the sunset. I knew right away that the landscape had to dictate the design of the house. The intention was not to build a lavish vacation villa, but rather to make something that takes it cues from the landscape. The house isn't meant to be the view, it's a shelter from which to admire the view."

The actor also revealed that he spent the first year visiting the site at different times of the day and across seasons. He observed the sunrise and sunset, the streams during rainfall and the changing foliage before revising his initial sketches.

"I spent the first year going to the site at various times to watch the sunrise and sunset, the flow of the streams when it rains, and the changing foliage through the seasons. This gave me a holistic base from which I could revise and rework my sketches," he added.

Imran Khan explains construction of his new house

Imran said he opted for a traditional construction approach inspired by houses in the surrounding villages rather than using conventional concrete slab construction. After consulting his contractor and a structural engineer, he chose a stone plinth for the foundation, single-storey brick walls, steel roof beams and prefabricated insulated roofing sheets.

"After consulting with my contractor and a structural engineer, I decided to forego concrete slab construction, and instead follow the classic method used to build the houses in the surrounding villages; Stone plinth for the base, single-storey brick walls, steel roof beams, and pre-fabricated insulated roofing sheets. That's it."

The actor said the process took time and that the finished house had a few imperfections, but he enjoyed building it. He also claimed that the project cost less than purchasing one of the ready-made villas advertised in the area.

"It took a while, and it's a bit uneven around the edges... but it was a joyous process. And ultimately, it cost me less than you would pay for one of the pre-made villas that I keep seeing advertised throughout the area. I wonder where the markup goes."

Imran Khan detained

Bollywood actor Imran Khan was detained by the Mumbai Police on Saturday at August Kranti Maidan in Mumbai, the proposed venue for a protest in support of CJP's protest call.

Following his detention, the actor shared a picture of himself apparently seated inside a police van. He accompanied the photograph with a light-hearted caption, writing, "Apparently I'm going for a drive."
Speaking to the media, Imran Khan clarified that he was not present with any specific demands but had come forward in his capacity as a citizen of Mumbai. He said he wanted to understand why freedom of movement was being restricted and why people's voices were being suppressed.

"I don't have demands. I am here as a citizen, as a person who lives in this city. I am here to see why freedom of movement is being restricted. Why are people's voices being suppressed? That is why I am here," the actor said.

He further stated that he was not affiliated with any organisation and was participating in an individual capacity.

Emphasising his position, Imran added, "I don't have any right to demand anything from people. I am not a part of any organisation. I will stand as a representative."

The actor's detention comes amid police action at August Kranti Maidan, where authorities have detained more than 400 people, according to the Mumbai Police.
