The Telugu language fantasy action film Bimbisara, starring Nandamuri Kalyan Ram in the titular role, was a critical and commercial triumph when it premiered in theatres on August 5, 2022, and after more than two months, the film is ready for its streaming internet debut.

Bimbisara is now available on ZEE5 in various languages, including Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Telugu. Nandamuri Kalyan Ram posted to Twitter on Thursday, October 20, to provide the details for its OTT release, writing, "Get ready to go back into the period of #Bimbisara and his Trigartala, streaming from MIDNIGHT TODAY!"


Bimbisara, the monarch of the 5th-century Magadha empire, arrives in the current world via time travel and wants to conquer it. The monarch is a ruthless tyrant. The king has a twin brother Devadutta, whom he orders to be killed. However, when Bimbisara is confronted by Devadutta, the former gets teleported into today’s world through a magic mirror.

In addition to its main Telugu actor, Samyuktha Menon, Prakash Raj and Catherine Tresa play important parts.

The movie managed to do well despite some strong competition from several big-budget films. It's collections were affected due to the release of Naga Chaitanya and Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha and Nithiins’ Macherla Niyojakavargam.

Bimbisara’s dialogues have been written by Vasudev Muneppagari, and its cinematography has been done by Chota K Naidu. While its songs were composed by Chirrantan Bhatt, its background score was composed by MM. Keeravani.

When the film launched, RRR actor Jr NTR and Pushpa star Allu Arjun tweeted their reactions. Jr NTR stated that he has heard fantastic things about the movie. He further added, "how it felt fantastic when people appreciate a film with the same passion we felt when we first saw it." He also praised the great Keeravani sir for being the film's backbone. "Thank you to all the performers and technicians that helped make this a success" he said.


Allu Arjun also sent a message congratulating the whole Bimbisara team. He mentioned how he admires Nandamuri Kalyan Ram for bringing new talent and exploring different types of films.
