AAP MLA allegedly slapped by husband, Punjab women's panel steps in

Husband Sukhraj Singh, who is also a leader of the ruling Aam Aadmi Party, apparently got up and slapped her following an argument in the forecourt of a house. People standing near them can be seen intervening and pulling him away.
The 42-second video was shot on July 10 and has now become public, PTI reported. Other media reports said it came from CCTV footage from an adjoining house.
MLA Baljinder Kaur,a two-time legislator from Talwandi Sabo, has not filed a complaint nor commented on the matter. But Punjab State Women's Commission chairperson Manisha Gulati, who has seen the video, said she would take suo motu notice of the incident.
Kaur, who did her M.Phil from Punjab University, Patiala, as a professor of English at Mata Gujri College at Fatehgarh Sahib before she joined politics. She married Singh, AAP's youth wing convener for Majha region, in February 2019.
After the video surfaced online there have been angry calls for strict action against him.
